Programs/Activities:

The Town is offering ways to keep fit this winter, plus a children’s art class. You can tackle Fitness Boot Camp. You can dance to fitness at a Zumba class.You can experience the fitness-grace of Tai Chi, or even Yoga. And kids can get individualized fine arts instruction. They all start in January at the Town Hall. To reserve a spot, call Parks, Recreation and Culture Director Pat Clark at 768-4800 x 239 and leave a message with name and number.

 

4 Ways to Get in Shape

Parks, Recreation & Culture Department offers a variety of fitness classes suitable for all levels. Locals and visitors are welcome! No membership is required and no supplies or equipment is necessary. Instructors are experienced professionals committed to providing participants with a fun-filled, challenging workout.

Pre-registration is required. Please call 768-4800 x 239, leave message with name and number. These classes fill up quickly, so don't wait. All classes are held at the Marcy Town Hall.

 

BOOT CAMP

Experience an effective way to get fit without having to go to the gym. Boot Camp offers a variety of exercise intensity levels to meet the needs of individuals. You get the benefit of having a professional fitness trainer at a fraction of the cost. Boot Camp meets on Monday evenings 6 - 7:30, Jan. 9 to Feb. 27. Fee $20

 

ZUMBA

Get your groove back! This 45-minute workout mixes dance moves with strength training methods. You'll tone up, burn calories, and have so much fun you won't even realize you're working out. Zumba meets at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, Jan. 11 to Feb. 29. Seven weeks for $30, or drop-in rate of $5.

 

TAI CHI I & TAI CHI II

For beginners and those who have taken Tai chi, offered again by Arthritis Foundation of Central NY under the instruction of Lynne Falsano. Tai Chi is known as one of the effective exercises for physical and mental well-being. It consists of fluid, gentle, graceful and circular movements that are relaxed and slow in tempo. Breathing is deepened and slowed, aiding visual and mental concentration. Dates: Wednesdays Jan. 18 to Feb. 29, 10- 11 a.m. (Tai chi I) and 11-noon (Tai chi II). Fee: $20 per person.

 

YOGA - NEW !

Get relaxed, more flexible and in tune with your inter-self.

Mondays 9:30-10:30 a.m., Jan. 9 to Feb. 27. (No class on Dr. Martin Luther King Day January 16.) Fee: $20.

 

HEY KIDS - FINE ARTS INSTRUCTION

We offer individualized fine art instruction to students 5 and up. Learn graphite, watercolors and more. This quality fine arts program goes beyond cut and past, and arts and crafts. It teaches how to "see" in new way and offers basic understanding of how to draw and paint. Instructor Angelamae Abbene. Saturdays 10- 11:30 a.m., Jan. 7 to Feb. 25. Fee $20.
